How to Play
← Back to GameThe goal of 82-0 is to assemble an all-time NBA roster good enough to run the table on a full 82-game schedule. A simulation engine grades the raw production of your five picks — the better and more balanced your roster, the more games it projects to win.
1. The Slot Machine
Every round opens with a slot machine. Hit SPIN to lock a random franchise and decade, then draft a player from that team in that era — searching, filtering by guard/forward/center, or sorting by the box score. The game runs five rounds.
2. Fill the Court
You're building a real five-man lineup: PG, SG, SF, PF, and C. Each player you draft can only be placed at a position they actually play, and you can't draft the same player twice. After placing players you can tap two spots to swap them — as long as both players are eligible for the new positions.
3. The Skips
Each round you get one team skip and one decade skip. A team skip re-rolls the franchise (same era); a decade skip re-rolls the era (same franchise). They refresh every round — spend them on a slot that doesn't fit your plan.
4. What The Engine Rates
Each player carries a full set of 0–100 skill ratings, not just a box score: scoring, creation, shooting gravity (spacing), defense, rim protection, rebounding, efficiency, and turnover control.
Your Team Strength Rating starts from the average overall of your five picks, then the engine applies dozens of synergy adjustments — rewarding elite creation, spacing, rim protection and a star core, while penalising crowded floors, no shooting, weak defense, or redundant ball-dominant guards. The result screen lists exactly which bonuses and penalties applied.
5. The 82-Game Curve
Wins do not scale linearly with rating. As your roster gets stronger, each additional win is harder to earn, and the leap to a perfect 82-0 demands an elite, well-balanced five. A single glaring weakness — no spacing, no rim protection — can keep you out of perfection no matter how much talent you stack.
6. Game Modes
💯 Classic — full stats on every card. Draft with the numbers in front of you.
💰 Mega Franchise — every player has a price. Stay under the $100 budget and hunt value.
🪙 Mid-Level Franchise — same salary game, tighter wallet. Only $88 to spend.
💵 Small Market Franchise — the tightest cap yet. Build all five on just $75.
🧠 Hooper — no stats, no box score. Draft from memory and prove you know ball.
7. Seeded Runs
Every run has a seed. Two players using the same seed get the exact same sequence of spins, so the only thing that differs is who you draft. Leave the seed blank for a random run, or type one in to replay it.
After a game, hit Challenge link to copy a URL that drops a friend into the identical run — same mode, same spins — to see who builds the better lineup.
